If you’re like me, you’re wondering what the hell all that barbed-wire fencing is doing around the Watertower, that icon of NBBB. Apparently, things are falling off of it, and no one thinks these things can blow 20 feet on their way down and land outside the fence.
Of course, it would be nice if the Watertower was repaired. How awesome would it be if it was lit up with the seasons/holidays? Purple lights for the Ravens’ season. Etc.

Is this water Tower ever going to get fixed? I believe there are only 2 or 3 of this style of tower left in the US. It would be a shame for things to keep falling off of it

I WISH they’d do something with it. I love that thing!

I love it too but the city has been playing a game for years. RP has been trying to get them to fix it and the city has been trying to tear it down. All the city would need is for an inspector to deem the building unsafe to the public and they would get their wish. We all know how a certain mayor likes to take kickback from developers for handing over a bid contract.

On a less argumentative note my personal thoughts on building such as the water tower is that some times buildings, weither used or not, need to be saved for the sake or saving. It’s a landmark and one of its kind in the area.

After what RP did with Keswick (whichever side you were/are on), I wonder if they might be able to stop the city if they wanna tear it down. I hope so.
Remember back in like 1999 or 2000 when that guy wanted to buy the thing and LIVE in it? But that city wouldn’t sell it because they needed the road for MTA turn-arounds? The #27 doesn’t stop there anymore.
I wish I were rich and could try and buy the damned thing:)

Thanks for your interest and concerns for the watertower. There is a group of local residents from various neighborhoods around the tower who are campaigning to get the tower restored. How could the tower and open space below support the bicycle community?
